The first traces of olive groves date back to prehistoric times, but it was during the medieval period that—thanks to the Medici family—large-scale land reclamation began, aiming to expand olive cultivation. However, it wasn’t until the 1800s that the unmistakable shadow of olive leaves finally spread across all of Tuscany.
